Who We Are

ABOUT us

Cuckmere Cycle Company is an independent bike shop based in the South Downs National Park between Seaford and Eastbourne. We’re located in a beautiful converted granary barn overlooking the Cuckmere Estuary, with Friston Forest trails starting right from our door.

We are dealers for Cervelo and Marin Bikes, providing friendly, high quality service and expert advice. We offer bike hire, sales of new bikes, accessories, and a professional repair service.

Our location is perfect for exploring the Seven Sisters cliffs, Cuckmere haven, Friston Forest and the villages of Alfriston, Litlington, Wilmington, Jevington and East Dean. Starting right from our shop there is a huge network of traffic free routes, quiet lanes perfect for road riding, and singletrack trails in the forest, we can offer something for every cyclist.

The team

MANAGER – RICHARD LAMBERT

Richard is an experienced cyclist who grew up in the area and has spent most of his life working with bikes. After managing some of the busiest bike shops in the country he moved into frame design and bike fitting with local frame builder Enigma.

In 2022 Richard established his own brand, Windover bikes, which you will find on display in our showroom. Though his main passion is off-road riding, gravel, bike packing and MTB, you will also see Richard out on the road riding his Cannondale Super Six.

Having been riding (and occasionally maintaining) the trails in Friston forest since the late 90’s, Richard is keen to work with local riders, Forestry England and the South Downs National Park to improve riding in the area.

Local Community

As keen cyclists ourselves we would love the Cuckmere Cycle Company to become a hub for local cyclists. Our location is perfect for meeting pre or post ride, so we welcome any clubs or groups who would like to base their rides from here – please get in touch!

We also plan to organise weekly shop rides, keep an eye on our social media for details.

How to find us

We’re located on the A259, between Eastbourne and Seaford, but please note you cannot access the shop directly from the main road as the adjacent parking is for private residential use.

We are a short walk away from both ‘Seven Sisters’ Exceat car parks, and situated adjacent to the Visitors Center. To find our own small carpark, turn off the A259 on the bend towards Litlington, then immediately turn right into the main car park. Head straight through the main car park and you will find an access track at the top which leads round to our building. If you get lost you can ask in the cafe or visitor centre for directions!
